Advanced Internet Research
In addition to traditional background investigations, LMI offers Advanced Internet Research. We have developed a proprietary methodology yielding results our clients find invaluable. This research is especially helpful for:
Our in-depth Internet research goes beyond general search engine queries and is designed to discover usernames along with other key subject identifiers leading to additional findings. This includes social media research and analysis of publications and relevant data from open sources on the Internet vital to determining the credibility of individuals and businesses.
We recommend this type of specialized research in addition to traditional background investigations due to the high success rate of relevant findings.
Examples of relevant findings include: acts demonstrating lack of discretion in breaching confidentiality of employers, omissions of employers and other significant details from application/resume, sexually inappropriate behavior, potentially illegal behaviors, past threats of violence, behavior demonstrating work ethic problems and dishonesty and other questionable behaviors.
Background research on persons and businesses is conducted nationally and internationally. In-depth investigations include the most up to date and thorough Internet, database, and publications research as well as interviewing techniques designed to obtain detailed significant information while assessing the credibility of the source and analysis of all information gathered. Our clients have successfully utilized our background investigations for a wide variety of purposes including, but not limited to, determining the best applicant for an executive level position, determining the character and credibility of witnesses and/or complainant, and investigations involving investments and assets. Our contacts and resources for obtaining information throughout the US and internationally are excellent. Additionally, our staff receives ongoing continuing education in advanced Internet research techniques, publications and library research, and database research.

Scope of Services
Due Diligence is defined as using the level of judgment, care, and prudence, that a person would reasonably be expected to do prior to a specific event. For corporations needing to make important business decisions, Due Diligence means "checking it out", i.e. acquiring objective and reliable facts and information about a subject before finalizing their decision.
The "subject" of the due diligence for corporations may be the merger or acquisition of another business, the investment of monies with another business or individual, the evaluation of a start up company, or as simple as checking out an employee before making the decision to hire.
The reasonable and prudent level of care in any of the above situations would certainly involve a thorough investigation of the company and the principals involved with the company and/or any individuals relevant to the decision at hand.
